Favorite thing: Don't pack too much into your days. Greece is meant to be a place you can relax in the cafes and tavernas, watch the sea, and just enjoy life. I know there is a phenomenal amount to see and do here, but if you're on the go the whole time you will miss a very important part of the Greek experience. One of the best ways to relax in Greece, is with a glass of wine.

Fondest memory: Wine. Greek wine is every bit as good as Italian and its a lot cheaper. I tried about eight different kinds, never paid more than 8 Euros a bottle and didn't have a single bad one. My favorite was called Atria. The wine Greeks are known for is called Retsina, but that isn't the only one. Drop into a wine merchant's shop, which seem to be open sporadically and on the whim of the owner. They will generally explain to you the different types of grapes and how they are associated with the wine-producing regions of Greece. Although this takes less than an hour, I would say it would be some of the best time you could spend. Pictured here is a very standard bottle of Tsantali, the local table-wine.
