"Ponce. Ponce is on the south..." Puerto Rico Things to Do Tip by grift71

Ponce. Ponce is on the south coast of Puerto Rico. It has a more Caribbean look and feel to it than the San Juan region (which apart from Old San Juan looks more like Los Angeles than like a place in the Caribbean). The centre of Ponce has been 'restructured', meaning that all cables are now under the ground and most buildings have fresh paint. The area around the Cathedral (with the weird Parque de Bombas - the fire department building) is simply beautiful.
Totally different atmosphere than the San Juan area. Nice city centre and if you decide to drive there then you may want to skip the Highway 52. There's nothing wrong with that highway, but the smaller roads through the mountains are so pretty that you want to get out of the car continuously to enjoy the views...
