"Packing List" China Packing List Tip by cabbageking

China What to Pack: 76 reviews and 55 photos

Luggage and bags: If travelling mainly by train ... luggage w/wheels is convenient.
Overall, though, I highly recommend the large backpack most backpackers use ... just in case you want to travel off the trains, on buses or do some hiking.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Dryers are scarcer than the washing machines if you're travelling Chinese-style. Bring clothes that drip dry, preferably within two hours of being hung up. Also, bring nylon string (packs easily) for clothes lines.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: ALWAYS have your own toilet tissue (which goes in the basket NEXT to the toilet - or squat - when you're finished) along. Very few backpacking places will provide this.
ALWAYS have hand sanitizer...the water is oft unsafe.

Photo Equipment: Good technological stuff is expensive here...bring your own.

Miscellaneous: Clothing is cheap. But beware of size difference between Asian and Europeans.

ALWAYS check an item thoroughly before purchasing - especially off the street - there are NO refunds!
