"get down to both coasts. The..." Caribbean Coast Tip by MarlinMan

Caribbean Coast, Costa Rica: 9 reviews and 9 photos

Favorite thing: get down to both coasts. The Pacific side is spectacular fishing for Sail Fish, but very few Marlin. The surfing is good, the accomodations are modern, and the evenings are very fun.

On the Caribbean side, it is more rustic and primitive. We stayed in a village with the natives on the Punta Colorado river. The fishing was unbelievable -- tarpon, snook, jack cravell, muchaca......and many more. We got to Parismina by flying commercial to San Jose, and then chartering a single engine for the trip down. I would recommend taking a bus on one of the legs, as the trip through the rain forest and the banana plantations are simply amazing.

Fondest memory: Basically, my fondest memory is simply good food, good beer, great fishing, great pals, and wonderful people in the village. And, of course, the vegetation.
