"Topkapi Palace" Topkapi Palace Tip by leffe3

Topkapi Palace, Istanbul: 276 reviews and 651 photos

A quite extraordinary melange of buildings, courtyards, fountains and gardens superbly located overlooking the Sea of Marmara, Golden Horn and Bospherous. A whole day could be spent wandering round the delights of Topkapi. The jewel in the crown is the Harem - but note that this requires an extra ticket and, because it is a guided tour, is limited in numbers. So if you want to include the Harem, best to buy the ticket as soon as you arrive (it will be time-specific) at the Palace. If you go in May during the International Music Festival, try get a ticket for one of the concerts at the Aya Irini, church built in the 6th century and only open for concerts. Its a wonderful venue.
