Visit Vera Cruz on the Caribean coast, it is a beautifull city with a nice Zocalo, and that is what it all about there. At night when you are having dinner, Mariachi's and Marimba's battle it out for the music. And like the guide book says, if there are many locals the place goes off, and if mostly tourists from overseas, they sit and hope somebody starts dancing.
And just off the Zocalo across from the postoffice, if you are in the seazon, a brass band is always practicing for the coming carnaval, and they are really good.
