Shopping - Welcome to the Cornucopia. It's where Victorian heritage mingles effortlessly with designer fashion. Where the relaxed ambience of yesteryear meets the vibrancy of a modern shopping environment. A unique and exciting place to shop. Live music, the aroma of pastries and fresh continental coffee all greet you and invite you in to discover a wealth of clothes, gifts, jewellery, books and crafts from around the world.
It's a renovation of national importance - an architectural masterpiece. Built by Cuthbert Brodrick in 1865 for the busy corn trade, this stunning centerpiece of the city is now a Grade 1 listed building, and justly so. Sympathetically restored to its initial glory, through an association with Leeds City Council, the Leeds Development Corporation and English Heritage, and with its Roman Ampitheatre appearance, the Corn Exchange Shops development is once again a lively social and commercial part of this historic city.
Against this evocative backdrop of ornate balustrades, elegant stairways and Victorian decor you'll discover the ultimate shopping experience. Underneath the beautifully domed glazed roof there are myriad shops offering all manner of fascinating speciality goods and intimate restaurants presenting different cuisines.
As well as a fascinating selection of shops you'll find a range of colourful events taking place throughout the year. There are weekly craft fairs, monthly CD and record fairs, an annual arts fair and fashion shows. The Corn Exchange even transforms itself into a vibrant and unusual late night club from time to time, as well as playing host to a selection of popular television programmes.
