Baton Rouge Off The Beaten Path: 29 reviews and 51 photos
If you are in to plantations, Notaway Plantation in White Castle (across the river) is my Mom's favorite. I like The Myrtles (in St. Francisville) because it's haunted, and Oak Ally, but that is a little bit further away.
Or... if you really want to go off the beaten path, you could visit one of the three major wastewater treatment plants in Baton Rouge (and just think, the effluent goes into the Mississippi River, which just happens the be the drinking water source for New Orleans!). Actually, I just like the picture. If you look closely, you can see downtown Baton Rouge in the background.
If you want to do some biking, I hear that Hooper Road is the place to be.
