"Packing List" Brazil Packing List Tip by kathyceo
Brazil What to Pack: 33 reviews and 12 photos
Luggage and bags: Depending on your form of travel, whatever suits you. Don't pack things you can't replace if you have a problem with luggage. We brought carry-on suitcases (one for each of us) so we didnt have to wait for luggage at each flight, but it still had to be checked once we were in Brazil. The planes for those interior flights were small, and only small parcels were placed in the overhead compartments. On a positive note, we never had to 'wait' for the luggage. They were very fast. We always lock our luggage, and even tho we unpack our clothing, we lock the suitcases--just so we can put the various item we are not carrying, inside.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Although the climate is warm, and style is causal, the style is there. Women often wear a simple shift style dress with slip on heels. Most Brazilians are very slender, and with that simple outfit everyone looked dressed! Male dress was also simple but stylish--slacks (not jeans) with a simple button short sleeve shirt--loose and airy. Many people wore flip-flops as well. Cut offs and sneakers were not seen. In a hot climate, wrinkle free, breathable fabrics are a godsend. Most places, even if they are air conditioned, are not cold. There may be quick rain storms--depending on local and time of year. We remained on the coast the entire trip.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Good sunscreen, and skin cream. Make sure you have sunglasses and a hat.
Photo Equipment: If you bring a digital or good camara, keep it on you and be alert. We left the digital at home and took a good, but fairly normal looking point and shoot with small telephoto.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: At least two suits and a big shirt for a coverup. That sun is always there!
Miscellaneous: Have a good tour book and something that has common Portuguese words. At least you can point to the word if you can't say it right.
