"Start looking Early!!!" Flying Pig Downtown Tip by ADV27

Flying Pig Downtown, Amsterdam: 1,206 reviews and 10 photos

Arriving by train, you are dropped off right in the middle of downtown Amsterdam. Its a busy place for backpackers, and often very hard to find a hostel if arriving later in the evening. I recommend the Flying Pig Downtown located close to the train station and downtown. Although, I wouldn't recommend leaving any of your important possesions in your room at any time.
Amsterdams lodging is not cheap by any means, especially if you arrive late in the evening. With all the traffic of backpackers through Amsterdam, hostels fill up quickly and prices raise as vacancy dwindles. Get in earlier in the day to be sure!

Unique Qualities: The Flying Pig provides a very nice atmosphere, with a pool table, large cush pillows and couches and a bar with friendly people behind it. It's mainly filled with young backpackers looking for a good time, and a great place to meet people. Also, for those with 'buds' in mind, many coffee shops are located right around it and the hostel is a smoke friendly place, where you can sit and enjoy a joint with other backpackers.

Address: Nieuwendijk 100, 1012 MR Amsterdam
