Places To See, New Orleans: 23 reviews and 34 photos

If you are travelling with children then the places to see are the zoo, the aquarium, and the garden district. It's a good idea to go on a walking tour of the Garden District. They cost around $14US per person and they last a couple of hours. They explain the history of the city and try to answer any questions you may have. They will also point out celebrity homes like Anne Rice's and Trent Resnor's. Every night there is also a mini Mardi Gras down Bourbon Street. If you have small children with you may not want to hang around Bourbon Street too much. Since there is no last call and you can walk the streets drinking alcohol legally you will find a less-than-desirable element towards evening. There are also a lot of peeler bars on that street too.
If you are sans kiddies, then you must go to the take-out windows of one of the bars. I got a kick out of ordering a Hurricane 'to-go.' But then I am amused easily...
