One of many good Chinese restaurants that the locals go to eat is Mon Kiang Restaurant (pronounced by the locals as 'moi kang', you will not be laughed at if you simply say 'mon kiang'). It is on the 600 block (south side of street) of Broadway. The decor is no nonsense. Plain tables, loud clanging of dishes, harsh lighting. One goes there to eat and hear the dishes make noise.
Not too unique, this and other restaurants do have take-away (called take-out). They don't advertise it but if you walk in, don't sit down, and tell the waiter that you want to take out, they will do it.
