"Oldest hotel in the world" Spain Hotel Tip by DanielF

The state-run chain "Paradores" claims that the Hostal Reyes Católicos in Santiago de Compostela is the oldest still working hotel in the world. Actually, it was conceived as a hospital for the pilgrims. That is certainly a form of hospitality, but far away from what I understand by modern hotelery.

Anyway, the hotel is hosted in a magnificent Renaissance building whose interiors, yet luxury, are in desperate need of refurbishing.

Directions: On the plaza Obradoiro, the very heart of the city.
