"I must admit it is not easy to..." Canary Islands Restaurant Tip by DanielF

Canary Islands Restaurants: 71 reviews and 35 photos

I must admit it is not easy to find a really good restaurant in the Canaries. Most of the restaurants are specially meant for tourists and even if the quality and prices are all right, the food is not particularly tasty. I personally prefer to taste the local food and that is only possible in the lost villages where few toutists arrive. Sometimes you can also find excellent and very fresh fish in small bars and restaurants on the beach.

In the main cities there are also some good restaurants. I keep a very good memory of the restaurant in the museum of Contemporary art in Arrecife (it is located in the old fort in the port 'Castillo de San José').

Favorite Dish: If you can find a restaurant that offers real Canarian cuisine, do try it. It is excellent!! I liked the fresh fish (vieja, cabrilla, etc.) with 'papas arrugás' (small potatoes boiled in their skin) and mojo picón (a spicy sauce), but there are many other specialities.
