"Perhaps the most awe-inspiring..." Vasa Museum Tip by Herttuli

Vasa Museum, Stockholm: 134 reviews and 205 photos

Perhaps the most awe-inspiring sight in Stockholm is at the Vasamuseet (tel ++46 8 519 54800, also located on DjurgA¥rden). A royal warship built in 1628 has been painstakingly restored there. This mighty ship, which was to be the pride of the Swedish navy, sunk straight to the bottom of the SaltsjA¶n inlet less than one hour into its maiden voyage. Although that makes me chuckle, viewing the decks of this grand ship with its bronze cannons, gun ports and intricately carved figures took my breath away.
