Iran Off The Beaten Path: 62 reviews and 94 photos

This oasis (or wadi) is misleading. While although lush now (April) it will dry up by July and they will not be able to harvest dates or citrus fruit. They can get some crops of wheat, barley and sweet berries. One farmer told us that he lost over $5,000 (about 1-2 years salary for a city worker) worth of produce last summer due to the drought-like conditions that have gripped some parts of Iran for the last 2 years. This is in the mountains south east of Jiroft and away from the plains where they are able to draw on bore water.
