"Auschwitz" Warsaw Things to Do Tip by feline01

Warsaw Things to Do: 1,447 reviews and 3,028 photos

Not one of those fun excursions while on holiday but important. Seeing it during a gathering of survivors was emotional enough but when they started singing the Jewish prayer for the dead, I lost it. I couldn't possibly imagine their suffering. And to think that this has happened throughout history and still happens today in many places around the world, just not to the extent the Nazi's managed. This wall is where victims were taken and shot. It's called the Black Wall and it's estimated that over 20,000 men, women and children were shot at this wall. The collection of victims' artifacts including hair, eyeglasses and dolls was another very powerful portion of the Auschwitz complex.
