"YHA in York" York Hotel Tip by btex

York Hotels: 127 reviews and 171 photos

Once again, I stayed at the international youth hostel. This York hostel was a really nice place. A big place, clean, tv room - breakfast was even included in the price of the room...I'm not sure if they do that anymore. The hostel is about a 20 minute walk to and from Old York...the walking path is next to the river. There are buses to make the journey quicker. 150 beds.

Unique Qualities: This hostel is also memorable to me because it's where I tried blood sausage for the first and, hopefully, not last time. Also known as black pudding. It's not actually pudding; it's sausage. But, there is pig's blood in it. The lady who gave it to me didn't tell me what it was before I ate it...I would have eaten it anyway. Despite the blood, it was good! It just tasted like regular breakfast sausage.
