Peristil, a part of Diocletian's palace where within roman columnes and arcades, facades of the Romanesque and the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque houses and palaces were built.
The colonnaded peristyle in form of domed vestibule and the Great Hall was for appearance of the Emperor to the people in the most sumptuous of possible settings.
