"The youth hostel sounded great..." Pula Hotel Tip by maykal

The youth hostel sounded great from the leaflet sent to me by the Croatian Youth Hostel Association. A private beach, music on the terrace at night, and individual bungalows overlooking the sea. Well, I suppose that was all true...just the beach didn't really inspire much in the rain, the music turned out to be local radio blasted through loudspeakers all day long, and the bungalows were full with children on a school trip. We had to stay in a sort of outhouse, a shared dormitory, beds with absolutely disgusting sheets, and a whiff of rotten vegetables!
Looking back, it probably wasn't all that bad...I mean, I wuldn't think twice about booking into a similar place in the Middle East...just at the time, it seemed bad...extremely bad.

Unique Qualities: We were particularly fond of the beach...emerging from the sea covered in a brown slime was a highlight enjoyed by all.

Comparison: least expensive
Directions: A fair distance from the centre of Pula...you have to take a bus to get there. But stupidly we decided to walk it from the train station...strangely the weather was boiling hot, and sweating with heav
