"Anyone who scuba dives has to..." Australia Things to Do Tip by FireMike

Anyone who scuba dives has to do it in Byron Bay!
Nobody bothers to dive here because they are all caught up in the hype of the Great Barrier Reef. Unless you are diving on one of the overnight boats that goes far from shore and to more remote locations on the GBR, I would say diving at the Julian Rocks in Byron Bay is better. Piles of turtles, rays, sharks, HUGE schools of fish, and unbelievable colours even though it is more rock than reef. Even a great chance to see whales on the way to the dive site at the right time of the year.

Directions: I dove with Bayside Scuba but there is at least one other company in town too. Bayside is located beside Byron Surf and does morning and afternoon dives.
