Marathon Ethiopian Restaurant: "Fun and filling" Marathon Ethiopian Tip by csistok

Marathon Ethiopian, Calgary: 2 reviews and 0 photos

If you're looking for something a little different, why not try Ethiopian cuisine? Yes, yes, I know what you're thinking -- 'but they don't have food in Ethiopia!'. It may seem like an oxymoron, but Marathon Ethiopian Restaurant has food that is both tasty and fun.

Favorite Dish: We've only ever tried one thing -- the shared platter (I don't remember what it's called, you'll see it on the menu). This works best with 3 or more people. Basically, a large platter is placed before you, containing various stew-like portions, on top of a huge, flat-bread, almost like a giant crepe. You rip off pieces of the bread, which has a slightly sour-dough flavour to it, and use it to scoop up the stew. There is a meatless version for vegetarians, which is almost identical to the regular version, as there are only two stews with meat in them.
