This palace is the seat of the local Legislative Council. It is located across the square from the St Isaac's Cathedral. The daughter of Emperor Nicholas, Maria, built the Marinsky Palace in 1839-44. In 1884 the city government bought the palace and it became seat of the State Council, Chancellor's office and the Committee of Ministers.
