NEED A TAXI?: All German taxis are cream-colored with a black and yellow taxi sign.

HIRING A TAXI: The best way to hire a taxi is to find one at a taxi stand (stations, airports, hotels...). If there are no taxis waiting, look around for a taxi-phone. You can also order a taxi by phone. Every city has a taxi hotline.

FARES: All taxis in Germany are metered. Rates vary by city, but generally, there is a Euro 2.00 - 3.00 basic fee, then a rate of Euro 1.00 - 2.00 per kilometer. Time spent waiting in traffic is also charged at a rate of Euro 0.25 - 0.50 per minute.

TIPPING: To tip the driver, round the fare up to the nearest Euro if you receive extra or exceptional service.
