Place de la Concorde, Paris: 167 reviews and 321 photos
My favourite square in Paris. It had many different names before, symbols of quarrelling political fractions, but the name was later changed to Place de la Concorde, representing accord and harmony. May be strange but that was the place where I saw the first Egyptian monument. In fact, the square is famous for housing an obelisk brought there as a gift from Luxor, in Egypt. The square is also famous for having been the last place for many famous people from different political camps during the turbulent years of the French revolution, Robespierre and Marie-Antoinette are just two examples. Today, the square is the entrance point to the Champs-Elysees.
Address: Place de la Concorde, 75008 Paris
Directions: At Rue de Rivoli.
