  Zaghouan ancient ruins

In the times of the Roman Empire the town was called Zica. Today it shared the fate of many other Roman cities - it's hardly anything that a small village. I visited it on my way back to Sousse from Dougga, and it is a very convenient idea. There is just one temple, though curious, but an hour should be enough. So there is no need to make a separate trip - you can easily squeeze it in somewhere. I was not disappointed. The temple is called Nymphaeum, or the Temple of Waters. What's so curious about it? Well, it is the first Roman temple I have seen built as a semi-circle, with borders on a gallery. There is also a pool where the water clarified.
