Unique Qualities: Hey, when's the last time you stayed at a convent and Catholic Girls' School? Enough said. Actually, one nice benefit is the safety. At the Santa Rosa, they give you a key to the front gate. Once you walk through the gate, you enter the main courtyard where you might find the girls playing basketball. Continuing beyond the courtyard, you'll pass through a small garden then up the stairs to the rooms. They are small similar to a college dorm room with a bed, chair, private bath, and desk. One of the nuns will serve you a small breakfast and you're welcome to use the kitchen yourself also. If you want to meet other travelers, the kitchen and TV lounge are the places to be. One set of guests I met last time were three young ladies from Warsaw who were on their way to Easter Island. Santa Rosa has a very laid back atmosphere.

Price Comparison: least expensive
Directions: On Ahuacpinto next door (down the hill) to the Santo Domingo Convent.
