Fondest memory: Schloss Grafenegg is about 10 km west of Krems, not directy on the Danube, but really worth a visit.30 years ago I lived in that aerea and still remember this castle, with all glasses broken and the building in a very bad condition. I was told, that the russian soldiers burnt all wooden things - floors as well as ornaments after th 2nd WW. Then in 1968 the owner of the castle, called Fürst Metternich started to rebuild and restore the castle, and it looks really great today. They have big exhibitions there and conventions and every christmas they have a weekend with traditional austrian x-mas-songs...
I made a special travelogue about this castle !
