Finland Off The Beaten Path: 103 reviews and 112 photos

Vappu, First of May, is a much celebrated day in Finland.(notice, we celebrate it the last day/night of April) It used to be celebration of the working class, but it has become a celebration of students. Sima, is homemade, nonalcoholic drink we drink at first of May. We also eat this pastry called Tippaleipä. It doesn't taste so much.. but it's a tradition, and it looks funny!
Most people get drunk, go to restaurants or hang in the streets of Helsinki.
Balloons are very popular... (more about student vappu-happenings see other off the beaten path)
