"The Palace of Culture" Iasi Things to Do Tip by tiganeasca

Iasi Things to Do: 30 reviews and 41 photos

The Palace of Culture is a must-see from the outside as well as the inside. This immense - and I mean truly immense - neo-Gothic building (dating to the first few decades of the now-departed 20th century) now houses four museums, including a superb ethnographic one. (There are also museums of art, history, and technology.) That's how big it is. It truly is an amazing sight and you would be foolish not to see the facade at the very least. It sits at the end of Bulevardul Stefan cel Mare (Stephen the Great), behind an equally immense plaza (and parking lot, I think). There is a very impressive statue of Stefan in front as well. Perhaps best of all, in order to reach the Palace, you must walk down the boulevard, which is lined with interesting (both inside and out) buildings all (or most) of which are also well worth your time: including the Cathedral, the National Theater, and the Church of the Three Hierarchs.
