The river Mürz finds it’s way through this old town, already mentioned in the 13th century.
The world-famous railway-track of the “Semmeringbahn” also crosses the town. A nice ride to Vienna takes you about 1.30 hrs. I believe.
In the (Mauthaus) or Moothall you can visit the Heimat- und Wintersportmuseum. The have an exhibition with nearly 2.000 artefacts to show you the history of skiing.
Johannes Brahms wrote his fourth symphony here in the summer of 1885
