In Santa Rosalia turn up Obregon to Calle 4 and get some great French bread at the Bakery--The doughnuts are not worth trying, but the bread is delicious. There is also a bank and 24 hr teller machine across from the Bakery if you need cash. The town was established by a French Mining company. The town is best known as a ferry port to Guymas on the mainland and for a church designed by Eiffel of Eiffel tower fame. The beaches near Santa Rosalia are mostly rocks and pebbles, so although you can park on the beach most people head south to sandier shores.
One thing about Mexico that strikes a bad note with most US and Canadian tourists is the amount of garbage along side the roads. I remember US roads in the ?50s were the same way until the anti litter campaigns took hold. As infrastructure and developed nation image concerns spread they will clean it up, but until then watch out for broken glass. There are also different standards for toilet facilities, but the road side bush is always an available option.

Favorite Dish: Just as you come into Mulege you will find a Grocery store with most any food items you need. Turn into town and in about one block you will see Dony's Taco stand on the right. Dony's has good food and is open for breakfast.
