"The Kunsthistorisches Museum" museums Tip by Tolik

museums, Vienna: 24 reviews and 23 photos

The Kunsthistorisches Museum is fourth biggest art museum in Europe (after Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Louvre and Prado).
There are five collections in the main building on Maria-Theresien Platz: A gallery of painting; the Coin Cabinet; the sculpture and applied arts collection and (closed when we visited the museum) the art of Ancient Egypt and works from Greece, Rome and the Near East.

One of the greatest glories of the collection is the Bruegel room (12 paintings by Pieter Bruegel the Elder). The gallery is particularly rich in 16th and 17th century paintings from Flanders and Venice, with 2 rooms devoted to Rubens and Titian.
