"Baixa" Alfama Quarter Tip by 10eke

Alfama Quarter, Lisbon: 67 reviews and 136 photos

Baixa was levelled by the earthquake of 1755. It was the Marquis of Pombal, the Prime Minister, who took charge of the rebuilding. The old Baixa looked just like Alfama, the rebuilt Baixa has wide and straight streets. You can find shops, sidewalk cafe's, and small restaurants between the Rossio square and the Comercio square.

Address: 1100-172 Alfama, Lisbon
Directions: Between Castelo de São Jorge & Rio Tejo.
