"Visit Assisi, even if you are..." Italy Favorite Tip by lengyelp

Favorite thing: Visit Assisi, even if you are not a fan of St. Francis. It is a beautiful little town, located on a mount and it is entirely medieval (some parts even Roman.) You know, generally a town consists of a historical centre and a modern part. Well, here the latter is practically missing.
Or, if you are interested in St. Francis... you can find his traces everywhere. I don't know what it is like now, I was there before the big earthquake. Then, the cathedral with all the frescoes of Giotto was still standing, it was beautiful (although I am afraid St. Francis himself, with his preaching of poverty would not be happy with all this beauty devoted to him). Anyway, if you go (went?) down to the grave of St. Francis you might have a quite religious experience. Even if you are not an ardent believer, just have an open mind, you will be touched there. People sitting everywhere on the floor, praying, crying, meditating. In spite of everything I FELT there the presence of incredible love and faith.
