Fondest memory: One of the very few religious experiences in my life I had in Ferrara. Just imagine... sitting in the Duomo, exhausted, tired, but fascinated of the city. There is no illumination, just some solitary candles here and there. Silent singing. And a ray of light from a side window, falling right on the cross which is hanging on some ropes above the altar. The ropes cannot be seen, only the gilded cross soaring in the air. It is easy to imagine how a man from the Middle Ages felt here, if it touched even such a sceptical person like me.
