"Fremont Street Experience" Fremont Street Experience Tip by worldtrekker

Fremont Street Experience, Las Vegas: 133 reviews and 244 photos

This 90 foot high, gigantic metal mesh of lights was completed in 1995 and has transformed the seedy Downtown area of Vegas. It has attracted tourists, but the area has none of the glamour that you find at the newer hotels on the Strip.
This huge canopy is studded with over 2 million colored lightbulbs, which effectively turn into a giant movie screen. There are several different virtual reality shows, none of which have a plot or content - it's purely just an eye-catching spectacle. The performances are free and begin once it gets dark until midnight. I believe they start every half hour, but it may be every hour. This is run jointly by ten downtown casinos who turn off all their external lights while it's happening. You'll also see the well known neon cowboy and Lady Luck here on Freemont Street.
