tea at a major hotel. for me it was brown's.
you may think it is not your 'cup of tea', (sorry it was irresistible) but i was so glad after an afternoon of shopping and walking and fighting the saturday crowd that tea was exactly what was called for. they bring out a three-tiered tray of sandwiches, scones, cookies and desserts along with a teapot of your selected variety, and you sit for as long as you want at one of their comfy, overstuffed lounge chairs. it's a refined atmosphere, a library/fireplace setting but everyone is treated royally and you're left alone for quiet conversation with your partner or just people watching. just don't dress down too much, no sneakers or denim allowed.
