The Musee d'Orsay in Paris is amazing. It's just down the street from the Louvre. The great thing about it is that it's not as big, so you don't feel overwhelmed. Also, I absolutely love impressionism, and this museum is just packed with it. The museum itself used to be a train station, and it's been redone into a museum. There are still these two huge clocks on either end. It's amazing.
The musee d?Orsay was converted from the old Gare d?Orsay into the beautiful museum it is today. Gare d?Orsay was built by Victor Laloux, and inaugurated in 1900 for the Universal Exhibition. It received the first electric trains, but was closed in 1939 due to progress. The musee d?Orsay was opened in December 1986, and is dedicated to all artistic production from 1848 to 1914. Paintings, pastels, sculptures, furniture and objets d'art, photography and documentary objects reflect the richness and diversity of this era.
