"The Monument" Monument - Great Fire of London Tip by hayward68

Monument - Great Fire of London, London: 54 reviews and 119 photos

Erected as a memorial to the Great Fire of London of 1666, you can climb the 311 steps up a very winding staircase for a great view of the city. When you come back down they give you a certificate showing that you climbed it!
See lavep's London page for his certificate. We climbed it with him. I can still hear my friend's heavy panting as she climbed that staircase behind me, lol!
