  Luxor Temple
by hayward68

This temple was built by New Kingdom pharoah Amenophis III and was originally joined to Karnak Temple by an avenue of sphinxes. The temple was added to over time by Tutankhamun, Ramses II, Alexander the Great and various Romans. The obelisk that is left standing here is the twin to the one that stands in the Place de la Concorde in Paris.
Watch out for the guards, even they will try and get baksheesh out of you. One offered to show us the Baby Sphinx for a small fee, we found it by ourselves ;-)
Still cameras are allowed in for free but you'll have to pay to take a video camera in.
Admission is 20EGP.

Address: Luxor
Directions: Beside the Nile, south of the centre of town.

Review Helpfulness: 1.5 out of 5 stars
