  Nubian Feast
by hayward68

We went to a Nubian village for a traditional meal. We sat ontop a roof and our meal was brought out in various bowls. That's our tour leader Ian dishing out our meal.
This is also where we tried karkadeh for the first time. It's a drink made from an infusion of hibiscus flowers and it's really nice. The Nubian gentleman brought around glasses filled with karkadeh and a bowl of sugar and a spoon. You then could put in the amount of sugar you preferred as it is a bit tart. It's also available hot or cold.
To do this sort of trip yourself ask the people with the feluccas on the Nile in Aswan. Many are Nubians and are quite willing to take you to their village for a meal, you'll just have to agree on the price.

Directions: Somewhere on the west bank of Aswan. It might have even been a large island, lol, I'm not really sure!
