"Ireland is famous for it's..." Belfast Off The Beaten Path Tip by oneonta_ni

Belfast Off The Beaten Path: 54 reviews and 55 photos

Ireland is famous for it's lace and there are many different kinds of lace from all corners of the island. If you are interested in seeing all these laces in one place where you can compare the different types, you need to get to the Sheelin Lace Museum. It is in rural County Fermanagh (get directions from the Tourist Office in Enniskillen) and you can also buy antique lace there. In addition to lace, they also sell books, antique crochet hooks and antique glassware.

The museum itself is not big but there are loads of different types of lace from Kenmare to Carrickmacross to bobbin laces; from Irish crochet lace to net and tape laces. There is also a small resource room with more information on the different laces.
