"The Jefferson Memorial" Jefferson Memorial - Tidal Basin Tip by londonlover

  Jefferson Memorial
by londonlover

This is my favorite monument in D.C. -- a memorial to my favorite US President, Thomas Jefferson. The statue of our third Commander-in-Chief stands in the middle of the open-air rotunda. The area around the memorial, including the tidal basin, is beautiful, and lined with the cherry trees that make D.C. a destination every spring. Nature-lover that Jefferson was, I think he would have loved this setting.
