Well, who doesn't recognize this picture: the leaning tower of Pisa! The tower is very famous and I had seen it a million times on pictures already. But to actually stand there and look at it was a weird experience. It was so familiar but so magnificent at the same time to finally see this famous tower with my own eyes.

They started building this tower in 1173. When they were builing the third gallery the tower already started leaning over. They stopped building for almost a century. Giovanni di Simone (don't you just love this name, hahaha) started building again in 1275. He tried to correct the leaning of the tower by builing the next galleries leaning in the opposite direction. The builing of the tower was finished in 1350.
