Singapore Things to Do: 1,995 reviews and 3,531 photos

ASIAN CIVILISATIONS MUSEUM: One of the best museums in Singapore! Do not miss this museum if you are interested in the multi-ethnic heritage of the Southeast Asian region.

Housed at the old Tao Nan School, it's about 7 mins walk from the Singapore Art Museum from Queens Street. The museum also displays exhibits on both Peranakan & Chinese Culture. The Peranakan Legacy is especially interesting. The display looks at the unique culture forged between the Chinese, Malay & European worlds over 200 years ago.

A spectacular showcase of Nonya beadwork, embroidery, jewellery, silverwork, sireh (betel-nut) & ceramics.

Other exhibits include Indian treasures, Chinese Calligraphy from the Yeo Khee Lim Collection & (most interesting) the exhibitions of the Textile Friends of Singapore (Sacred Threads: Ceremonial Textiles of Southeast Asia).

Open: 12 noon - 6pm (Mon), 9am - 6pm (Tue - Thur, Sat & Sun), 9am - 9pm (Fri).

Admission: S$ 3 adults, S$ 1.50 children (6 - 16 years) and seniors S$ 8 Family ticket (max 5 members).

Highly Recommended.
