"Take a walk in CHIJMES..." Singapore Things to Do Tip by keiji

Singapore Things to Do: 1,995 reviews and 3,531 photos

Take a walk in CHIJMES (pronounced as chimes). Picture shows the convent in 1939.
Former site of my alma mater C.H.I.J. (St. Nicholas), this site underwent 5 years of restoration (1991-1996). Built in 1842, it had more buildings added over the years. The last, a dormitory, was built in the 1950s. Classical and Neo-gothic styles dominate this area, and the courtyards provide relief from the concrete world outside, although there are parks a short walk away. Restaurants now provide the buzz, and with different cuisines found here, one is spoilt for choice.

Address: Bras Brasah Road. Walk from City Hall MRT.
