"Local market in Chaguanas, a..." Trinidad and Tobago Favorite Tip by lois_lane

Favorite thing: Local market in Chaguanas, a small town with a majority of east indian trinnies. Interesting to note the huge amount of friction and racism between the african trinni population and the east indian trinni population. Whole towns seen to be segregated as african or indian. While we were staying with a very nice woman that we had met who was of african descent, she warned us of the Indian Population, how they would try to take our money etc... We heard this often, then while in Tobago, spent some time with a wonderful Indian couple who took us under their wing, and repeatedly warned us to beware the african population for the same reason. Interesting dynamics.
