< My Name <font color=Red> Morii Fumiki<font color=blue> in Hieroglyphs >

Since the third dynasty, the Egyptians had the hieroglyphic script. This script has different types of pictures of symbols. Some of the symbols have multiple meanings. For example the legs mean walk, run, come, go and even more.

Other symbols do not mean anything but can be used in combinations. These signs are sometimes (wrongly) called the Egyptian alphabet. We will use these combinations of symbols for the writing pad.

The hieroglyphs can be written in three directions. From top to bottom, from left to right and from right to left. To distinguish between horizontal and vertical, the egyptians used a vertical rule if they wrote from top to bottom. To distinguish between left-to-right and vice versa, they changed the symbols itself (see the example).

The hieroglyphic writing is decrypted by Champollion. He studied the Stone of Rossetta for 14 years and found the key.
