"Army Museum. Philippine Jolo Armors" Top 5 Page for this destination Alcazar Tip by Oleg_D.

Alcazar, Toledo: 50 reviews and 142 photos

Among Oriental artifacts of army museum are Japanese Samurai’s armor and two so called Jolo Armors. There are a lot of Japanese armors in different museums that is why present example if not outstanding but two Philippine armors are real rarity. So, you are going to see two so called Jolo Armors used by the Moslems of southernmost Philippine Islands. They were defensive jackets made out of iron plates connected with the chainmail. On of these two armors belonged to Datto Daniel of Southern Chiefs killed in battle against Spaniards landed to Jolo Island on February 27, 1851. Of course these armors already couldn’t save owners from the bullets.
Visitors are allowed to take noncommercial photos and videos without flash light and tripod.
Museum works from 10:00 till 17:00 hours. Closed on Wednesdays and public holidays.
Admission is 5 euros.
